OVEC Begins New CEO Program

As a result of Kentucky House Bill 305 that provided for alternative methods to achieve rank changes for teachers, OVEC began their first Continuing Education Option for teachers in school year 2002-2003. The CEO is an ongoing professional development plan designed to improve teaching and impact student learning and is based on the Kentucky Experienced Teacher Standards.

Teachers enroll in the online program through Kentucky Virtual University, meet with OVEC coach Nancy Stout throughout the following six months, and design their own professional growth plan. After six months, the plan is submitted for approval and teachers have from one to four years to implement their plan. After implementation, a three-part portfolio is then submitted to the Standards Board for scoring.
